One beauty of marriage is that, when you fall out of love with him or he falls out of love with you, it keeps you together until you fall in again. And a marriage requires one to divorce him or herself. It's all about loving yourself lesser and loving your mate more.
I really enjoyed being married, I am so thankful to be married to a wonderful man like Brandon. But the truth is still, living together as husband and wife requires much tenacity and perseverance. I always believe that a wedding anniversary is a celebration of love, trust, perseverance and tenacity. But the sequence varies each year.
There is such a vast difference between man and woman. God wired us to be different so that in our differences we compliment and help each other. If there is no understanding, the tendency is we will reject each other's differences. But hey, embrace differences, it's the bad behavior we should reject. That is why I always remind myself that Brandon is not wired to be a woman. The reason I am first attracted to him is that he has broad shoulders and he is a movie junkie and he makes me feel secure. But many women wants their boyfriends or husbands to be like their girlfriends. They are complaining why isn't he sensitive enough, why he doesn't like romantic comedies, why does he always stand outside the shop when I do shopping etc. Trust me, you don't want your man to be like your girlfriend.
And with that understanding, you will appreciate his differences. And you work around that and there is rhythm and harmony in the relationship. There is fun, love and joy spending time together.
Despite of many know-hows, we still have our share of challenges. But I am glad to be able to say today that I still love my husband and I am so glad to be married to him. Brandon is a wonderful great man who has brought so much joy and stability to my life. So to all who are married, embrace your spouse everyday. To those who are not married, get married and join the club!
