I remember vividly all the birthday celebrations my dad would put up for me in my growing years. I remember all the expensive toys he used to buy me. When I was 5, I needed to stay in the hospital for a few weeks because I had complications with my respiratory system. I could recall the fond memories of my dad sitting by my side and acting silly just to assure me.
But in my growing years, we started to grow apart. It was definitely puberty and young teen angst for me. My dad became more withdrawn as his relationship with my mum deteriorates. But the greatest thing is, I found Jesus, and my parents found Jesus. The dynamics of the relationships in the family has taken a 180 degrees change. Although I am no longer staying with them, I am closer to them now than previously. We would spend quality time talking and going out for meals. And I would make an effort to see them weekly.
We would never have our parents forever. You and I must learn how to cherish the times with our folks. If your folks are difficult, learn how to overcome evil with good. Overcome them with your love and patience, it worked for my case.
Take a step at a time. Write a card, buy some favourite snacks of theirs. It doesn’t need to be fanciful. Loving someone is very simple. I am looking forward to have my folks at church with me this weekend. And I already know what I am giving my dad. Start planning! Share with me your plans.

Hey Nat :)
Is your dad tech-savvy? An ipad? Haha. Try vacation tickets? Movie goldclass for your folks? Or an electric shaver? :)
Parents always appreciate meals with their children.
I'm planning to give my dad a lovegift.
Keep in touch!
